Welcome our newest member of the family!

Cardboard Spaceship Welcomes Chris Stimson as its New Senior Account Executive

We are so excited to welcome Chris Stimson as our new senior account executive! He’s joining our team after eight years+ working at FilmSupply’s sister company, Musicbed, where his primary responsibilities were customer acquisition and retention through education, personalized customer service and technical support. We’re excited to see what Chris brings to the table, and are glad that he’s here as a part of the team now!

Tell me about your background – what have you been doing for the last 10 years, job, responsibilities, clients you worked with, etc.

I was at Musicbed for the last 8 years of my career working in their client support team helping with song suggestions and answering licensing questions. After a year, I was promoted to join their account executive team. My responsibilities were to take incoming requests and negotiate the license on behalf of the artist. This would involve finding the specific uses and terms that were needed as well as the fee.

I did that for 6 years where I then was promoted to Senior Account Executive and had more oversight and training on how to best care for our clients while maximizing value for our artists. I loved being able to find creative solutions that would work for the client as well as helping maintain and get the top value for our artist’s copyright.

I got to work with clients and agencies like 72andSunny, 160over90, BVK, Carmichael Lynch, DDB, BBDO, Hogarth, Saatchi & Saatchi, Ogilvy, Anomaly, GSD&M, McCann, WundermanThompson, Leo Burnett, and Droga5 to name a few. I also got to work alongside brands like Apple, Salesforce, Netflix, Dell, Verizon, Yahoo, Costco, Kroger etc.

Why did you decide to join Tribe Films? What was it that made you jump from music licensing to video production?

I had a working relationship with Tribe as they were a client of mine and a personal relationship with Matt Engelking, co-founder and Executive Producer. I was very impressed with the work that Tribe was doing for their clients so when we started chatting about the idea a few months ago, it was easy to see the huge upside of joining the high level of work they were doing for their clients. We both felt that my skills of relationship building and problem solving for my clients were a good fit.

So, it came down to me needing to decide to take the risk of leaving a job I really enjoyed to a bit of an unknown territory of the production side of things. In the end, it was an easy decision to join the team after an offer was extended as our values on work ethic, quality service, and integrity were very aligned.

What are you excited about in your new role? What do you hope to get out of it?

The thing I am most excited about is being able to take the creative problem solving skills I learned at Musicbed and be able to expand on it in my new role. There are so many more complex scenarios and pain points on the production side of things, so being able to get in and dig around with clients to solve these issues with creative solutions we provide is very exciting for me.

I really hope to be able to continue to provide value for my clients in new and unique ways. Going above and beyond to provide high quality service and work for people is a passion of mine that I am excited to be able to grow here.

Tell me about you personally – something interesting that people might want to know about.

Married to a very creative and funny designer turned project manager named Rachael who brings order from chaos in nearly all areas of our family life and her work life. Two wild, crazy, fun, spunky, and insanely smart kids named Roger and Ruby. Lived in DFW for the past 10 years. Still listen to and attend the same Hardcore music shows of bands that I loved and listened to in Highschool.

Apollo 13 and October Sky are my favorite movies…so maybe I have an undiscovered dream of being an astronaut or at least working at NASA!
