Capturing the IBM Global Solutions Redesign
The Challenge
In 2019, IBM set out to redesign their Global Solutions Center in Coppell, Texas. But instead of the traditional interior designer approach, IBM wanted something culturally unique that could bridge the workplace and to create a unique sense of inclusivity. The answer was to redesign the center using local talent. Artist Uprising, a Dallas based agency, was tasked with the mission to curate eight artists in the Dallas Ft. Worth that could bridge the workplace using culture and art.
Full-scale storytelling
Cardboard Spaceship was contracted to document the entire process. Starting in July 2020 and ending in September 2021, we documented the entire creative process of each artist. What started out as simple concepts ended in wonderful masterpieces. We worked with IBM, Artist Uprising and each artist to capture the journey of each artist’s creative approach.
Cardboard Spaceship provided creative direction for production as part of IBM’s Global Solutions Campus redesign, shaping how the space would be experienced visually across content and touchpoints. Our role focused on translating IBM’s innovation, scale, and enterprise capabilities into a cohesive production approach, guiding everything from visual tone and shot selection to environmental storytelling. By aligning production with the campus’s architectural intent and brand positioning, we helped ensure that every captured moment reinforced IBM’s role as a leader in technology and global solutions.
Working in conjunction with Dallas-based agency, Artist Uprising, Cardboard Spaceship helped lead the talent oversight for the IBM Global Solutions Campus, sourcing and securing eight accomplished artists to design distinct sections of the space. Our role focused on identifying artists whose perspectives aligned with IBM’s themes of innovation, technology, and global impact, while ensuring a cohesive creative standard across all contributions. We managed the selection process, guided integration into the broader design vision, and maintained alignment between artistic expression and brand intent, resulting in a curated, multi-artist experience that elevates the campus environment.
Our role focused on aligning creative direction with execution, from developing visual frameworks and shot planning to coordinating logistics, schedules, and on-site requirements. We worked closely with IBM and creative partners to anticipate challenges, streamline decision-making, and ensure every detail supported the broader design and storytelling objectives, setting production up to deliver at a high level across the entire campus.
